Last week I picked up the wonderfully creative and eclectic Heartbreakers album by Phoebe Jean And The Air Force. Throughout the album Phoebe Jean drops her signature mix of classic club breaks, funk and always seemingly tip toeing around the boundaries of pop. Reminiscent at times to Glass Candy, Desire, Picture Plane and the Chromatics, Heartbreakers keeps the grooves moving strong and is a breath of fresh air to a stale iTunes playlist. Infectious tracks like “Day Is Gone” “No Game” and “Cover Girl” will be playing continuously time after time. Being first introduced to Phoebe Jean And The Air Force with the “Day Is Gone” remix by Baltimore’s own Pac Breezy, I’ve been hooked to the sound. Hit the break to sample “No Game”, “Cover Girl” and check out their homemade video for “Day Is Gone”. Indulge, and if you’re drinking the koolaid by the end pick up Heartbreakers at a digital store front near you (iTunes).
