We’ve linked up with one of Chicago’s finest, Young General to present his upcoming project The G Series: Hip Hop For Adults Vol. 2.
“We are doing a 6 week campaign from Oct. 9nd – Nov. 13th, releasing 2 songs (A & B Side) every Tuesday called “Two Song Tuesday”. After the 6th week, all 12 songs will culminate the entire album which is titled, “The G Series: Hip Hop 4 Adults 2″. The album features some of Chicago’s finest including Wade Soul, Jai Wil, Marcus Rezak & Naledge. With production from The Letter L, Nobody Famous, JNX, Boonie Mayfield & Rel”.
Without further adieu, lets go ahead and kick things off this week with track number 1, “I’m A Beast”.
“I am very pleased & excited to introduce you to Young General’s Hip-Hop For Adults, Vol. 2. The new mixtape kicks off with “I’m A Beast,” a track mixing Young G’s lyrical dexterity with the scratching and table riffing of DJ My Boy Elroy. I’ve seen this song performed live with a band on a few occasions, and while it is indeed a crowd-pleaser, a more apt label is “crowd-winner” – it’s a song that can be performed to an unknown audience to win their attention.
The song works the same way in this series, inviting listeners into Young General’s follow-up to 2011’s Vol. 1. The lush production from G’s regular collaborator Letter L gives the track an introductory feel before it settles into its booming refrain. Feels like an action film’s opening credits. Perhaps that’s why G was inspired to rip off a series of superhero mentions in the song’s second verse”. – ReadJack
We’ve got the second track “Tinted Glass” live after the jump.
