If you’re just catching up with us this Tuesday, we’ve been dropping exclusive tracks from Chicago’s Young General every Tuesday and today we continue with business as scheduled. Two new tracks and without further delay, here we go.
This week’s A-Side of the G-Series is a track from producers Hollywood Hustle & Mike Hero, a song with a similar groove to last week’s “The Groove” and Oct. 16th’s “Here We Go.” This is “We On,” a celebration of success in the music game but one that knows how to celebrate all levels of success, not simply the one that comes with a spot on MTV or one million youtube views. This attitude is epitomized in G’s line: “Trust we get it in/ private plane or the Megabus.” Two very different modes of transportation that prove the old adage: Success is what you make of it. – ReadJack

“Workin’ While We Kick It” is the third G-Series offering from producer Nobody Famous after “Bring It Back” and “Hell of a Life,” and it possesses a similar relentless pursuit. As for the “Hip Hop 4 Adults” theme, “Workin” is a reminder of the hustler’s lifestyle, one in which popping bottles is simply another way to network. Shouts out to the “Soul For Real” reference… gotta love it. – ReadJack
