Supervision kills this remix of Mother Prism by the Dallas-based synth trio Ishi. I find there tends to be a sacrifice of either original song or producer’s abilities when it comes to vocal track but this is not the case. Ishi’s John Mudd describes the song as,

“The song is about encouragement to break out from the mediocrity of the day and to be able to discover the sparks of life through a smile, laugh, your neighbor or whatever shape it comes,”

Amen!

Lightning in a Bottle festival might be one of the best festivals in the States that you probably don’t know about. Nestled along Lake Skinner in Temecula, California, LIB has created a precedence of an artistically-focused festival experience featuring a balance of up-and-coming, local, and world-renowned music and visual artists.

One of the unique aspects of Lightning in a Bottle Festival is that it’s curated by The Do Lab artist collective whose productions can be seen at festivals all across the country; the most popular of which is probably their dedicated stage/art installation at Coachella for over the past 9 years. In anticipation for LIB being held the 11th – 15th of July, a 7-track playlist was released by The Do Lab showcasing a glimpse of the diverse musical talent on this year’s lineup.

Featured artists include Rusko, Purity Ring, Tycho, PANTyRAiD, and more. For more information on LIB and how to experience it, check out their website for information on tickets and more.

Wanna know how you know STS9 is amazing? Because they got so many requests for the mix that they played between sets at Red Rocks this past summer that they released it for everyone to enjoy. While there is no tracklist there are artists such tagged such as Otis Redding, James Brown, Boards of Canada, Air, and a handful of other artists you didn’t know you loved. This appropriately titled mix features 100% good vibes and nothing less.

Paper Diamond is probably one of IMF’s most well-documented electronic producers (check out more of our coverage on him here) and once again he does not disappoint with his latest EP, ‘Paragon’.

This 10-track compilation is a welcome addition to his discography whose most recent release was a hard-hitting trap style mix delivered before his winter Night Vision Tour. Paragon incorporates a familiar soulful and upbeat style that is reminiscent of Paper Diamond of years past that can be heard throughout the album.

Highlights include the hip-hop/dubstep track ‘They Can’t Tell Me Nothing’ and ‘Like A Summer Breeze’ that reminds listeners of his roots in the Pretty Lights Music Label family. In true Paper Diamond fashion, he’ll be running through the US tearing up dance floors throughout the summer so make sure to catch him soon — you can check out the closest show to you here.

Nothings better than getting around to that one artist that you knew should have listened to before but you haven’t, and when you do, it’s amazing. Markus Schulz’s latest mix is a progressively digital soul and trance compilation that is one of the best I’ve heard this year. Markus’ ability to establish a harmonic mesh throughout the 2 hour mix makes it a smooth but strong ride.

Denver based producer Samples has been consistently raising the bar in the glitch and dub community for a few years now. His collab with trap producer M!NT is a smooth but wide awake track that highlights both producers’ strengths.

destructo-mix

After years in the underground DJ circuit around LA, Destructo has recently broke into the festival scene with an appearance at Snowball Festival and HARD festivals all over the country as one of the festivals’ curators. Destructo released an extremely well produced deep house mix for us to gear ourselves up for the warmer weather ahead. This is definitely one of the best mixes I’ve heard this Spring.

Do you smell that? That fresh, bright, less menacing breeze flowing? You’re right, Spring is inching its way closer. We think. For a majority of our community this is also synonymous with the coveted festival season, summer tours, and the endless list of late nights and early mornings. April’s IMF Exclusive featured producer BUHAY’s sound and style is comprised of that similarly exciting spirit and groove that makes wearing a coat to shows for 5 months worth it.

Buhay is currently based out of Bloomington, Indiana while wrapping up what I heard might be the the final days of the best years of ones life. Considering his appearances on past Glowfeset and Chicago’s North Coast Music Festival bills as well as the upcoming Hyperion and Bounce Music Festivals coupled with already having already shared the stage with Above & Beyond, Paul Oakenfold, and Paper Diamond to name a few it would be safe to say Buhay, which translates to “long life” in Tagalog, has the best years in front of him.
