In an ancient folklore it was once said that if you bathed naked in the morning dew on the morning of June 8th you will keep aging at bay indefinitely. However under scrupulous inspection at the IMF offices it was noted that the ancients had it all wrong. Key elements ‘morning’ and ‘dew’ were both mistranslated to lead astray the bass hungry masses leaving them helpless, naked and withering away.

Yet, here we are on the verge of June 8th and IMF has teamed up with SAV (formally of the group Sazon Booya) to eminentise the eschaton with the next volume in the Exclusive.Mix series. Bringing to the forefront a showcase of music that will expand your vision and audio canals into realms not experienced before. With all fnords set aside lets just say you’re in for a heart pumping all out audio war. So get your hands up, hit the break and always remember ‘Never whistle while you’re pissing’.

Bands, DJs and Producers have all made Chicago home for a couple hours and left. We’ve raged hours on end into the early morn. Fighting off the cold we’ve been cramped into sweaty tiny venues moving together as one. But far into the distance [thump… snare… thump, thump, snare] Can you hear it, way off into the distance? That subtle bass.

Ah yes, that’s right. Now you hear it. Close your eyes. Just past the high-rises. There’s a faint thumping and rhythmic gyrating energy of motion in the air. It still resonates throughout the collective bass congregation of Chicago. We’ve come full circle, survived the arctic chill and escaped the grasp of old man winter. And our reward, our ecstasy that utopia of sound bringing everyone back to the city for three incredible days under the blazing sun… Spring Awakening 2013, we await your return!

Building on last year’s epic format the Spring Awakening is set to return to Soldier Field to wreak havoc once again. Expanding now to a three day festival [June 14th, 15th and 16th] React Presents is flexing some serious EDM muscles to bring out headliners like the low frequency entity that they call Bassnectar, international UK mega star Calvin Harris, and last years Spring Awakening greatest surprise, the bald headed zen master Moby [DJ].

However it’s not only the headliners that fill the time in-between with incredible memories. The line up alone reads with over 100+ acts from all over the world. Boys Noize, Carnage, 12th Planet, Showtek, Gramatik, Chuckie, Bingo Players, Excision, Tommy Trash, Felix Da Housecat and of course Chicago’s own original dons Flosstradamus, the trolling trio of Krewella to the wild boys of Team Bayside High. And I almost forgot to mention, there are a ton of after parties featuring legendary acts that we’ll get into after the break.

Can You Dig It?! I Said Can Yooouu Diiig it! Well, lets hit the break and jump right into this definitive guide as we guide you through this orchestrated chaos of after parties, what to bring, places to fill your belly and everything you’ll need to have the most memorable experience ever.

The month of the Bull is upon us and that can only mean one thing; get ready to take flight! Sit back, take small sip on this hauntingly-hip-hop-influenced-blurry-and-atmospheric-soundscape-audio-bass-experiment and let your third eye open as we dive deep into the subconscious with our latest Exclusive.Mixx featuring UNKWN.

Sometimes our 120BMP world needs to be slowed down a bit and that’s what UNKWN has done with his mix. Transporting us onto new sonic levels sacrificing his late hours trapped away in his loft studio in the heart the Danish capitol to bring us this truly incredible mix. Touching bass with the likes of Rihanna, Para One, Cam’ron, Ciara, Zebra Katz, Sweater Beats and a slew of bass drenched remixes, UNKWN has sought to make a balance between beats and sounds, creating a harmony, that’ll place him into the fine company of seapunk and chillwave acts, such as Shlohmo and xxyyxx. Hit the break for more info on our latest feature, some cover art, and of course a few bonus materials.

Even though Major Lazer’s album Free The Universe was kidnapped by the evil General Rubbish we must still remain steadfast on this epic journey to upset his plans. While Diplo and friends have offered up the first of three volumes of rare/unreleased material to help out on this quest — which you can get here — the Major Lazer crew will be making a stop at the legendary Congress Theater in Chicago looking for recruits to help free the universe.

As if Major Lazer wasn’t enough to fill the bill they’re bringing along Dragonette, Rockie Fresh, Gent & Jawns and the Chicago staple known as dj Zebo to bring the newly refreshed and shined Congress Theater down!
