VH1′s Behind The Music series featured Akon last night, and it gave a very dope look into the life of one of the most underrated artist/executives in the game today. Also, hit the jump to check out last week’s episode featuring Aaliyah.
I can’t explain the campaigning behind the Asher Roth brand, but he always seems somewhat relevant without the saturation of his music.
With the overwhelming anticipation of Dre’s Detox (yes, seven years will do that) we get the first visuals of the legendary duo of Snoop and the doctor featuring Akon. Does it live up to the hype, we will have to wait…

Positioned as the lead single and most anticipated collaborative effort amongst the forthcoming, posthumous project from the King of Pop, the Akon produced “Hold My Hand” is no doubt, garnered to be a chart topper, albeit awards and revenue should be the furthest thing from our minds in regards to the honorary project. The track, put together by the two talented musicians, was actually in the works prior to MJ’s passing in 2009, but with an unfinished version leaking in 2008 and the album nearing its release date, the single is prepped and ready for all the world to hear.
Accounting for one of three artist assisted records that will be found on Michael, we can expect appearances from rock royalty, Lenny Kravitz and also from rapper, 50 Cent. Look for the celebratory work to release December 14th.

It looks like Akon and French producer David Guetta are developing quite the relationship. It’s no surprise considering David is one of the best Electronica/Dance producers in the game and we all know how Akon likes those “club” songs. The two linked up yet again on another track. It’s called “Once Radio” and I’m sure we’ll start to hear this pop up while we’re enjoying good music and champagne at our local hot spots. Oh, in case you missed it, Akon came in at number 3 on the Forbes Hip-Hop list with a whopping $21 million for the year. Lady Gaga stays bringing him money. Shouts to X!

Shyne’s voice sounds raspy as hell…this can’t be real. His voice is getting me more depressed the track itself, 15 million isn’t that right. NMC on the find.
