The Hundreds catches up with illustrator, designer and brand owner, Benny Gold, at his shop to discuss the collaboration shoe project. Inspired by the city of San Francisco and the 75th anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge, the outer shell of the shoe is made with a rust colored patina and ostrich leather (symbolizing the bridge’s colorway) and features traces of aqua throughout the shoe (to tie in the presence of the Pacific Ocean). Gradient gray and white laces are representative of San Francisco’s ubiuitous fog, while the tongue and insole feature a specially designed The Hundreds logo refashioned to include Benny Gold’s trademark paper plane. The shoe is now available in limited quantities at The Hundreds and Benny Gold flagship locations and online shops.

For the design we took a unique flip on MH’s iconic knife through NY’s big apple and turned it golden with our paper plane piercing through it. Benny Gold released the lookbook photos for his Winter collection. Getting away from San Francisco, city-life type of shots, they traveled to the Redwoods to encapsulate what the brand means and continues to mean. Gold says, “The brand has always been about remaining youthful and not losing sight of where we came from and where we are going — stay gold.”
