While scrolling the blogs last night for new music, I see a new Big Sean record – well I thought it was a Big Sean record – titled “Control” featuring Kendrick Lamar and a ghost named Jay Electronica. I’m finishing this writing prompt and listening to Sean on the first verse when I get a phone call. I stop what I’m doing and take it because she’s great and almost forget about the song until my phone starts blowing up with messages like, “did you hear it?” and “bruh…why’d he do that?” I get a missed call from one of my boys who usually hits me whenever something really dope is happening Hip-Hop wise. We may have talked for about fifteen more minutes and as soon as we hung up, I called him back. I can’t remember the exact introduction but I’m pretty sure I ended it with, “Look, I gotta hear this verse and get back to you.” Twitter was blowing up, it just seemed like a moment – one of those moments as a fan of Hip-Hop culture – I needed to witness in real time.
