Picking up steam from her Darkchild produced first single, “Big Hoops (Bigger The Better),” Portuguese singer Nelly Furtado emancipated yet another solid offering off her 4th solo album The Spirit Indestructible album (due June 19th)– this one being, a Nas featured cut entitled “Something,” which also includes an interpolation from Matthew Wilder’s throwback hit “Break My Stride.” Stream a preview of the new song under, along with “Big Hoops,” as well as catch a glimpse at a behind the scenes look for her “Big Hoops” video, which was shot by the well renowned lens-man, Little X, who’s been surprisingly everywhere lately behind the directorial chair.
Vevo just helped premiere the new video from K’NAAN ft. Nelly Furtado for the empathetic track “Is Anybody Out There”, off his More Beautiful Than Silence EP. The video shows the struggle of two teenagers as they fight loneliness and societal pressures, directed by Chris Robinson and filmed in Toronto. In addition to the release of his video, K’NAAN has announced the release date of his highly anticipated album Country, God or The Girl is May 1st via A&M/Octone. In addition to the single, the album features a diverse collaborations with some of music’s biggest talents- Bono, Will.i.Am, Nas and Keith Richards.
Ash gets the nod to hop on the remixed version of N.E.R.D. and Miss Furtado’s Hot N’ Fun. Not unexpected from Asher, he provides for some comedic enjoyment to an already “fun” record. If the verse doesn’t at least bring forth a slight grin, go fix yourself a bowl of oatmeal and watch the Price is Right.
So the f*ckery that was the 2009 American Music Awards took place this evening and needless to say, a lot of funny business went down, especially via Twitter. “I think that any career that someone pursues, there’s always a desire to get better, to learn,” she says. “Everybody wants that extra credential on their business card, they want to go to that seminar, they want to challenge themselves. And I’m no different, I take my job seriously and I love it! I love being a musician. Music brings me so much joy that I think I just have a desire to share that joy with people.”
