For the past few weeks, Onika’s been heavily scrutinized for her performance debacle at the 54th annual Grammy Awards, and she didn’t precisely make matters any better when she opted to go left field with the release of the newest Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded pop-esque single, “Starships,” which saw an official release last week — and to sub-par reviews. Amidst the flack she’s since then received, in attempts to keep her Hip Hop and urban fans completely satisfied, she drops the title track off the forthcoming project, featuring a guest verse from Lil Tunechi. Also, earlier in the night, she phoned Funk Flex to touch on the critics reception to the bashed performance, the naysayers who believe she’s sorta selling out, the new single, how it’s more of a street cut, a little bit of the LP, and more.
On paper this has to be the most unlikely collaboration, to say the least. It doesn’t stray away from what Madge’s fans have been fed over the umpteen years or so, but with Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. thrown in the full=mix pop throttle, I’m on the fence about…Onika’s most recent guest features, or more less her quality of music within the past few months. That album Hard Candy, whether you like it or not, was a well rounded urban-esque album. Madge’s upcoming LP MDNA, however, may not be my cup of tea. Hit the jump for a quick look at the album cover for MDNA, which is expected to hit shelves everywhere on March 26th. Also, look out for her during the Superbowl Halftime show this coming weekend.
The surprisingly not-so-awful collaboration between the trio of YM artists (and Birdman) looks to be accompanied by an all-out visual onslaught. And lucky for us, until the official video does drop, we have some behind-the-scenes photos, courtesy of Derick G, to wet our appetite. Looks like the kids went all out on this one. Hit the jump to check it out.
The (lone) privilege of having Nicki Minaj on Big Sean’s “Dance” (A$$) (Remix) is her appearance in the coinciding visuals. If you disagree, well — you must like those stick figure chicas. Nonetheless, and without any further adieu, enjoy Thicky Nicki and her A$$.
While the YMCMB heavy hitters are in Miami, they took time to assist Birdman prepare his forthcoming visual for “Y.U. Mad” of the Bigga Than Life album, which debuts November 22. Talk about “Baby Money”.
