Brooklyn’s very own, MeLo-X, truly does it all – produce, rap, and write. MeLo does his own version of Drake’s relatively new “Girls Love Beyonce”, better yet fuses it with Rihanna for this track, named appropriately.

I admit, a bit late, considering that 4/20 came and went some weeks ago, but guaranteed this is a good listen at any point in time. Also available for download here.
In honor of the international day of herbal peace-keeping also known as 4/20, TheGoodLife! has unleashed the eccentric musical geniuses of Ricky Powell and DJ Smoke L.E.S. for Professor Puffington’s Lost & Found Loose Joints…Deluxe Edition Mixtape. The 5th installment of a continuing collaborative mixtape series, PPL&FLJ…DEM clocks in at an appropriate four hours and twenty minutes and spans the sonic continuum from Sylvia Striplin to Lee Morgan to ODB. As DJ Smoke puts it “TheGoodLife!, Professor Puffington and myself chipped in to roll the fattest doobie of a mixtape and then Cheech & Chong, Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy and George Carlin sprinkled in some hash” and the perfect 4/20 mixtape was born. – The Good Life!

This wavy, r&B track hails from JODY a group from Chicago featuring members David, Khallee, James and Jeremiah. Produced by The-Drum, Yours Truly pulled a quote from the producer on working with the Chicago group.
“The Long Goodbye was the second JODY song we recorded in October of last year. It features Cole Johnson of Whi’lo on vocals in addition to David Robertson and Khallee Standberry-Lois. It’s definitely a break-up song. The title comes from the 1973 Robert Altman film of thesame name. We actually made this song for an up-and-coming R&B singer last summer, unfortunately it didn’t work for her. When we put Cole on the track it got really good then Dave and Khallee came in and killed it.” – Brandon
Up and coming jazz/soul singer Lili K presents a new visual from her latest release, Metal Petals, which is very impressive. If you’re unfamiliar and need some new soul in your life, check this out.

Happy Friday! Probably one of my favorite remixes this year…see how many different songs you can pick out of this Cashmere Cat remix. Enjoy.

Kiran Kai + Carla is a newly emerged production duo from South London who showcase an array of sounds. This track, “Drift”, is appropriately named for its airy motif, with a hint of juxtaposed wordplay.
